Project description:
There has been little recognition of humanitarian aid provided by the Catholic Church in Indonesia. Yet, Indonesia’s longstanding tradition of progressive Catholic movements has tended to different issues from poverty, war, human rights, and exploitive development practices. This project studies how these Catholic social movements have progressively favored the helpless and mistreated as well as how these social movements play a role in a pluralistic Indonesian society, especially during the socio-political crisis in Indonesia.
